As per the proceedings of the CCE the Career Guidance Cell was constituted at our college Dr.C.Kalapriya, Lecturer in Home science as Convener and Dr.K.Padmaja, lecturer .in English, Smt. P.Uma maheswari,  lecturer in English, Dr.G.Varalakshmi, lecturer in Statistics, Smt. M.Lakshmi Prasanna, Lecturer In Commerce, Dr.S.Divija Devi Lecturer In Telugu, K.Joji, Lecturer  In Political .Science as members of this Committee.

The Cell aims to create awareness among students about employability opportunities, enterprenual opportunities. It also gives training in employability skills, in development of hard and soft skills.

Activities conducted under Career Guidance Cell at D.K.Govt. Degree College, Nellore


  • An MOU with Edustrokes who collaborated with British Council and Coco-cola Beverages Pvt.Ltd. Under this program a free Online Training Programme on Job Skills was conducted for 45 days. 250 students are certified.
  • A Free certificate course was offered under PMKVY on Tailoring and Garment making for 3 months.
  • A Free Certificate Course on Creative skill Development  for 45 days was conducted. An MOU with Fevicryl paints was undertaken along with this course.


  • A Job oriented training programme was conducted by Genpact Pvt.Ltd. in collaboration with Jawahar Knowledge Centre, Nellore. 40 students were selected under three way selection process and were trained by GENPACT. 10 students were selected to NASCOM India Ltd, a reputed company at Hyderabad.


  • A Skill development program by Pro. Pvt. Ltd a computer education division one month free training program was conducted in the Basuter Hardware and Software. A certificate was issued by Central Govt. of India for  60 students.
  • A free training program was given to the students for Competitive Examinations in the college. Classes were conducted by the selected staff members before and beyond regular college hours.


  • A workshop was conducted on Personality Development and SWOT Analysis by DATOR a Training institution at our college. 120 students participated and were trained by professional trainers.



            NCC was started in D.K. Govt. College for Women, Nellore in the year 1999 with 100 cadets and a care taker by name Smt. A. Mary Jaya Bharathi, Lecturer in English upto 2003. Later on Dr.N.V. Lakshmi, Lecturer in Home Science was given the charge as Care Taker for NCC till 2012.

            In the year 2012 NCC Unit was handed over to Lt. Dr. C. Kala Priya  Lecturer in Home Science as Associate NCC Officer to till date. The Head Office of the NCC Unit is at 5 Andhra Girls Battalion, Tirupathi. The intake of cadets is 30 -35 per year and the total strength at present is 100 cadets for all the three years. The cadets undergo training camps like combined annual training camp, talsainik camps, National Integration Camps, Rock climbing camps, Trekking camps, Republic Day Parades and Inter group competition camps and are eligible for B & C Certificate Examinations at the end of the year.


  • P. Seetha of II B.Sc Home Science attended Prime Minister Rally on 28-01-2016 at New Delhi.
  • Sk. Ayesha of II B.Com attended Prime Minister Rally on 28-01-2016 at New Delhi.
  • Six NCC Cadets were selected for National Kho-Kho Games Tournament at New Delhi.

  • SAPNET (Society for Andhra Pradesh Network) undertakes Educational Programmes, Production and telecasting of video lessons on behalf of all the wings of Education Departments. The Commissioner of Collegiate Education, A.P., Vijayawada created a separate wing called MANA TV CELL to administer the programmes of MANA TV.
  •  Telecast of MANA TV lessons is through Channel - I (Recorded Lessons) and Channel-II (Live & Interactive Presentation). Channel - I telecasts “Video Recorded Lessons” of Undergraduate Subjects. The scope of channel - II is wide as it brings experts into the studio to deliver “Live Presentations”. These live telecasts are scheduled daily from 11:00 A.M to 11:45 A.M. 
  • MANA TV Cell facilitates the telecast of curriculum based lessons of conventional as well as restructured subjects. This telecast provides the latest information on the topic in the best possible way using appropriate pictures, animations etc. Besides regular lessons group discussions, panel discussions, teleconferences, special live programmes and certificate courses on communication skills etc., are telecast through MANA TV


  • To supplement class room teaching for better grasp of the subject.
  • To provide effective teaching with visual aids to all the students.
  • To help students studying in rural areas, backward & remote areas where there is shortage of faculty and infrastructure facilities.
  • To provide access to opportunities and to interact with the subject experts.
  • To train students in Job Oriented Programmes through certificate courses.
  • To conduct special live programmes with subject experts.

            Sri. B. Rajeswara Reddy, Assistant Professor in Physics is the co-ordinator of the MANA TV at College level.  The co-ordinator of MANA TV circulates the schedule, planned and sent by the MANA TV CELL of the CCE, to all the departments of the College. The students are instructed to attend the telecast programmes along with the concerned department faculty members. A record of student and staff attendance is maintained by the Coordinator. The feedback is submitted online to the Commissionerate daily for further improvement of the programmes. He co-ordinates the above said activities, makes sure that all the students & teaching staff watch the programmes and ensures that the students get maximum benefit out of it.




At present three NSS units are functioning in this college with more than 300 volunteers. These units are playing most important role in creating social awareness and sense of discipline among the student community. In addition to their regular academic work Smt.D.surendra,Lecturer in Chemistry, and Dr.S.Divija Devi, Lecturer in Telugu, Sri N.Joji, Lecturer in Political Science are acting as Programme Officers to Unit-I and Unit-II and Unit III respectively.


Every year the units organize 10-Day special camps to inculcate the sense of self service and social responsibility in the students towards rural population. The college has been organizing the camps regularly since 2001. The details as follows: 

2010-11: A 10-day NSS special camp was conducted at Sundaraiah Colony, Nellore rural Mandal from 05.02.2011 to 11-02-2011 with the participation of 50 volunteers. 

2011-12: A 10-day NSS special camp was conducted at Gollapalle, Nellore rural Mandal from  17.11.2011 to 23-11-2011 with the participation of 50 volunteers 

2012-13: A 10-day NSS special camp was conducted at Vikalangula Colony, Nellore rural Mandal from 02.02.2013 to 08.02.2013 with the participation of 50 volunteers.

2013-14: A 10-day NSS special camp was conducted at Kallurupalli Village, Nellore rural Mandal from 02-01-2014 to 11-01-2014 with the participation of 50 volunteers.

2014-15:  A 10-day NSS Mega Camp was organized from 01-11-2015 to 10-11-2015. This is a unique programme organized on “Penkalamkari Art which is specialized in SriKalahasthi. 100 volunteers participated and acquired the skill of drawing and painting. The District Joint Collector attended the camp and appreciated the volunteers.

2015-2016:  A 10-day NSS Mega camp was organized at Pallepadu village and Gollapalle with 100 volunteers from 07-09-2016 to 17-9-16.

In addition to the special camp programmes, we  organize many regular programmes such as Blood Donation camps, clean and green programmes, HIV/AIDS  awareness programmes, Youth festival programmes, National Integration day, National voters day, Women’s day, Legal awareness programmes, Health awareness programs etc.,


  • 2013-14 – Ms.M.Pushpa latha, III B.Com successfully completed her Adventure camp from 03-09-2014 to 14-09-2014 at Kulumanali, Himachalapradesh.
  • Ms.N.Amulya, I B.Sc(H.Sc) selected for pre. RDC Camp at Rajahmandry from 12-10-2014 to 19-10-2014.
  • Ms.P.Swapna, III B.Sc (BZC) attended pre RDC Camp at Nagapur.
  • Ms.P.Aruna, III B.Sc(BZC) selected for National Youth festival at Raipur(Chandighar).
  • N.S.S/Programme officer Smt. P.Uma maheswari of D.K.W College, headed the S.V.University & Vikrama Simhapuri university students and participated in the National Integration Camp at Naregal, Gedag(dt), Karnataka from 23-12-2015 to 31-12-2015.
  • Ms.N.Amulya of III B.Sc(HSC) selected as State Best volunteer for the Academic Year 2015-16 by Indira Gandhi National award.

Apart from this the NSS Volunteers participated in personality development programmes by Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Youth affairs.
